Kevin, Josh, Claire & Ramsay are the guiding forces behind Evolution Sage, collaborating on quality control, carbon offset project selection, and outreach to partner organizations.
Kevin Vaccarello (Director)
Kevin is a serial social entrepreneur who brings many years of experience in the communications industry to his role as one of the Directors of Evolution Sage. His career spans just about every role one can have within a communications firm. Presently, Kevin is the head honcho at Joots, where he focuses on strategic planning and new business development to create sustainability-oriented solutions like Ewe Tools, PIKO, a Climate Card and Zero Footprint Shopping Programs. Kevin is also the Founder & Co-facilitator of Sustain Hawaii 501(c)(3); Founder and Managing Director of Benefiscal; VP & Program Director of the World Business Academy Hawaii; and Steering Committee Member of Envision Hawaii.
Josh Stanbro (Director)
Josh Stanbro was raised in Northern California and, after graduating from Claremont McKenna College in 1993, joined his family in Kona working in the farming and landscaping business. He traveled the Pacific extensively while crewing on an escort boat for Te Aurere, the Polynesian voyaging canoe from Aotearoa (New Zealand). Josh earned his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001, after attending UH Manoa's Richardson School of Law and clerking with Honolulu firm Alston, Hunt, Floyd and Ing. For five years, Josh worked with the Trust for Public Land's Hawai'i office completing land conservation projects throughout the state, and was named Hawaii's "Conservationist of the Year" by the Conservation Council for Hawai'i in 2005. He now heads Creative Commons, an environmental consulting firm, sits on the board of Kanu Hawai'i, and splits his time between Palolo Valley and Boulder, Colorado.
Claire Sullivan (Director)
Claire graduated from Punahou School in Honolulu, and received her bachelors degree in International Relations and History from the London School of Economics. She recently received her Masters from Oxford University, where she focused on organic agriculture and the emerging carbon economy. Prior to pursuing her masters, Claire managed Maui Land & Pineapple Company's research and development department, directing exploration of sustainable diversified agriculture and development practices, as well as fostering company-wide sustainability efforts. This work earned her the Pacific Business News 'Forty Under 40' award in 2006. Prior to working on Maui, Claire worked on O'ahu at the State Legislature, focusing on environmental and education policy, as well as at The Nature Conservancy of Hawai'i and the Hawai'i Community Loan Fund. Claire currently works with Whole Foods Market, focusing on supporting the local economy and agricultural community by building the supply of local products at Whole Foods stores.
Ramsay Taum (Director)
Ramsay is the Director of Oahu Operations at The Hawaii Nature Center where he is actively involved in the promotion of environmental education and sustainability based on the Native Hawaiian Ahupua'a management system. He works with the University Of Hawaii School Of Travel Industry Management as part-time lecturer and ECO-TIM community outreach coordinator. As the Associate Director of the private, not-for-profit Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association, Ramsay also provides consultancy services aimed at integrating Native Hawaiian host cultural values and principles into contemporary business models through lectures, training classes and seminars.
He is a co-facilitator of Sustain Hawaii, and a practitioner and instructor of several Native Hawaiian practices including ho'oponopono (stress management and conflict resolution), lomi haha (body alignment) and lua (Hawaiian combat/battle art). Taum serves on numerous boards, community groups, task forces, planning committees and advisory councils including The Hawaii Tourism Authority Hawaiian Cultural Program Advisory Council, Pacific Indigenous Resource Management Institute, UH TIM School Hawaiian Advisory Council, UH Lyon Arboretum Task Force, State Consortium of Integrative Heath Services, Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs Oahu Council, is a member of the Royal Order of Kamehameha, Vice President of Hawaii Maoli and the Policy Committee Chair of the Oahu Council of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs.
Daniel Murren (Controller)
As the Controller of Evolution Sage, Daniel brings wide-ranging talent including his analytical management and creative background. Mr. Murren has over 12 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience in addition to his work in project management and coordination. He has worked in a variety of industries over the years including a t-shirt printing company, an aftermarket automobile manufacturer, and a record label and distribution company to name a few. Daniel is also the Controller for Joots. He has a background in fine arts, surfs every chance he gets, and reads widely on philosophy, politics and sociology.
